Grand Knight's Message
Congratulations to the Johnny & Mary Kay Wiedower family, our 2019 Family of the Year, and to Eric Tyler, our 2019 Knight of the Year. These very deserving Brother Knights and family were recognized at the annual Awards Banquet on February 24. The event was very well attended with over 100 reservations, and we were honored by the attendance of our State Secretary, State Treasurer, and our State Chaplain who was our keynote speaker. Father Patrick Boland gave an inspirational talk about the special importance of including our families in our Knights of Columbus activities. Our local Chaplain Father Jack Harris and Deacon Steve Mallett were also present, as we recognized all our Brother Knights for their year-long efforts with our council. A special thanks to Brother Knight John Taylor who served as the Emcee for the program and did a wonderful job, as always. Also to Brother Knight Eddie Joe Poteete and his family crew for preparing an outstanding meal. Thanks, too, to the wives and Brother Knights who brought desserts. And of course a big thank to my wife, Annie, for all the work she put into planning, decorating, and making the banquet so nice.
Next time you drive by the hall take a look at the roof - the new shingles are on! The state convention is April 26-28 in Little Rock at the Double Tree hotel. Delegates and Alternates were chosen at the February meeting: Delegates: Mark Hoelzeman and Matt Zimmerman. Alternates: Eric Tyler and Rich Moellers. If anyone else is interested in attending all or part of the convention, contact me and I'll get a packet to you with registration information. (501) 977-4585.
With Lent here, consider attending daily Mass or saying a rosary daily. Just a thought. Another thought: come out to our March meeting (March 12) and enjoy a little camaraderie, a meal, a rosary, and a usually short meeting. 6:00 meal, 6:30 rosary, 7:00 meeting.
Mark Hoelzeman, G.K.
